Growing up in the 1970's in the paradise of Indian Harbour Beach, FL offered many advantages, not the least of which lies in geography; my town--affectionately known as IHB--made up one of a number of small towns on a barrier island stretching from Cape Kennedy in the north to Sebastian Inlet to the south.
In practical terms, my world felt bounded by Patrick Air Force Base to the north and Indiatlantic in the south as several cozy bars lay between those limits, with 3 causeways with bridges connecting mainland to the beaches, with by my count 5 separate police forces. If these police see a car with more than 1 minority they figure it gang activity and pull over the car.
For geography and other reasons, this area remained relatively untouched by serious crime, murders especially, perhaps only 3 in maybe 4 decades. Pot smoking generally keeps people pretty peaceful. Sure, we probably have our share of minor bar fights, but certainly not assault with intent to commit premeditated murder, even if it were over stolen marijuana.
So it came as quite a shock to read about an attack with a crowbar that left a teen with skull fractures on both sides of his head. On the same day online, the Today paper carried a story about a woman found dead at a construction site. I have yet to read whether that pronounced a homicide, but all signs point to yes.
The homicide capped off a tough few days for the beach side city. Investigators arrested three teens for a brutal crowbar attack on another teen earlier that week allegedly over drugs.
PS: To wannabe felons or killers, don't talk about your planned crimr

Just Like Dan Hill's Blues
Ain't no bars on my windows
but chains 'round my heart.
(Repeat)
(Chorus)
Lawd, Jesus, help me be free.
Lawd, Jesus, help me be free.
Dem ole Philistines dey hunt me,
While I run and hide. (Repeat)

My Pharisee heart done lead me

Livin' in my own grave so long
Can't climb me on out.
Jesus, You came for me to save.
Please help me from my grave.

Old People Can't Drive
Can tell y'all from personal experience old people can't drive, whether wheelchair or car. Old folks just can't drive.
In the nursing home they contantly try to push their wheelchair right through my feet, especially my gout ridden, arthritic left big toe. Damn, that hurts!
Have also gotten tboned when older gentleman tried to drive through me when I had the right of way in .my car.

Insane Meal
A Georgia man ordered a meal consisting of "two cheeseburgers, two large orders of french fries, lemonade, cherry vanilla ice cream, popcorn, cornbread and a salad made of boiled eggs, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, carrots, cheese and buttermilk dressing, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections."
A meal like that could kill you.
So good thing this came as Kelly Renee Gissendaner's last meal before the state of GA executed him. maybe they should have saved money on legal fees during the appeals, just feed him like this all the time and let his arteries pop.

SNICKERS® - “The Brady Bunch”
Featuring Danny Trejo, who first came to my attention in the movie "Desperado"
Desperado
You can also find on a few episodes of Breaking the Bad, Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas, and played a kick ass lead character in Machete.
"Machete don't text."
I Got My Vacinations
I got all my vaccinations as a child in the 60's: polio, tetanus, and smallpox.. Born in 1958, society had yet to invent cures for some diseases such as measles--whatever 1 made you get spot on your skin. When I got that, children from as far as 5 blocks came to play with my train sets, almost all of Milwaukee it seemed.
This got us all sick at the same time so the mothers could go back to 3 martini book and bridge clubs in the afternoons. Seems to my memory now the pox had come upon us because red spots which itched bedeviled us, which we could not scratch.
Fun times.
Nevertheless, eradicating certain diseases through developing vaccines stands among the greatest achievements of he 2th century, akin to men landing on the moon. Now--because of hubris, stupidity, idiots who believe anything they read on the Internet as gospel truth--such idiots have eliminated the benefits of herd immunity.
So hell yes, bn unvacinated kids from schools, ban 'em from boy and girl scouts, and ban them viewing parades.
I got my vaccines.

The United States experienced a record number of measles cases during 2014, with 644 cases from 27 states reported to CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). This is the greatest number of cases since measles elimination was documented in the U.S. in 2000. http://www.cdc.gov/measles/cases-outbreaks.htmlThese people have largely taken us back to the technology or lack thereof to the horse powered buggies of the Amish;'[In this country the [The US], the biggest outbreak is centered in the Amish community in Ohio, where many of the residents are unvaccinated, the CDC reported. In Virginia, two cases were confirmed earlier this month." http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2014/05/29/u-s-measles-outbreak-sets-record-for-post-elimination-era/

Lack of Colour at Oscars: They don't like Mexicans none neither
Maria Christina Jurado Garcia, performing as Katy Jurado, born in Guadalajara, Mexico, received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 1954.
The next nomination for a Mexican came in 2003 for Salma Hayak, a span of 49 years.

Ms. Jurado received the nomiiation for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Broken Lance, playing the native American common law wife of a cattle baron. Think about it; Hollywood couldn't even find an Indian to play an Indian.

Crippled Ass MotherF*****s
Damn, I hate when news programs run stories on inspiring disabled people: see them walk on prosthetics, see the addled run at Special Olympics, see the legless peddle arm bikes in marathons at the Paralympics, see the addled run spprints there also, see what plucky human beings can do if they only try.
Golly gee whiz, Lara Logan of CBS News found a dude, former Hells Angel Tim Medvetz, that takes folks who left limbs behind in illicit wars led by the devil, Dick Cheney and his soulless minions, and they climb the highest mountains on each continent.
Now dammit, reckon they could attach helium balloons to my wheelchair?
Naah, I'd probably blow away like that fool on his lawn chair.
First have to establish mobility w/ local transit agency and try and volunteer anywhere.
Well, that comes after or during working on upper body strength and trunk control.
And, oh yeah, work on my depression.
Should occupy my time.

Great Day 4 Gator Nation
Seriously, usually root for Florida teams in games against outsiders. The state of Florida should rule over all college football.
So I watched the Florida State vs Oregon and rooted as long as humanly possible: until perhaps 3 minutes left in 1st half after seeing the epic Winston fumble and gift TD to the ducks. Although this fumble will show on blooper reels until the end of time, the most heinous and despicable acts ever: yelling at his coach.
To recap, "Famous" had dropped back to pass, dodged right, scrambled out of control to the left, ignored chance to run for first down, lumbered right into teeth of the rush, and tried to throw the ball while falling on his butt, and served up fumble with Oregon player flying for a touchdown, quite possibly the single worst play ever by a quarterback ever.
Afterwards w/ "Famous" on sideline and Coach Dumbo Fisher try in to explain 1 of the obvious points of the game--like hold onto the ball, son--and "Infamous" Winston yelled back.
Back in my day, a qb would cower in fear and flee from a coach after such a play. Yelling back risked getting your facemak grabbed and pulled so close the coach's spittle would explode on you and the dread slap to the helmet would concuss you.
Instead, "Famous" stood toe to toe with his coach, Jumbo Loser, and yelled back at him.
While generally opposing violence by coaches directed toward players, my soul yearned to see a clipboard rap the player's earhole on his helmet, which would leavehis ears ringing for a week.
That'd learn him some discipline!
Of course, it felt good to see FSU smoked!
