Dear Dan,
As you probably heard, last week Wisconsin lawmakers stripped state workers of their rights in a grossly undemocratic process.
But what you may not have heard is that those same lawmakers are coming to Washington, DC tomorrow to get their corporate payoff. That's right, they're coming here to have a fundraiser with one of the largest corporate lobbying firms in the country!
Please join us tomorrow (Wednesday, March 16) at 5:00pm at the Homer Building in downtown DC to protest the Wisconsin Republican leaders' fundraiser with big money corporate DC lobbyists. The Homer Building is located at 601 13th Street NW, just outside the Metro Center stop on the red line.
Hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Bob Edgar

Trying to learn how to use ArcGIS Explorer and created a map from an old USGS topographical map.
How do we know it as old? Conway now labeled as Curry Ford Rd because road got extended to the East past where you will now see the remaining portion of Conway which now runs North South when it used to end and turn West as shown on the map above.
Of course, help programs never help me so after creating this in ArcGIS could no share so used down and archaic print screen button then pasted it into Word Document , saved as html, then found confounded jpeg in a file created by doing that.
Golly, I love maps.
If They Can't Afford Bread, Let Them Eat iPads
Just another example of let them eat cake economics, the fantasy of the uber rich that some sort of social safety net still exists in A-Merry-Ca, that children don't go hungry in our land of amber waves of grain, that hungry children can apply themselves and learn despite gnawing pain in their bellies, that only slackers, addicts, and moral defectives face homelessness in the home of the brave.
In the land of the free, hungry humans can find few free lunches.
[New York Federal Reserve Bank President William Dudley was heckled at a speech in Queens today when he suggested that the rising cost of food is offset by how cheap iPads are.
Dudley said said that while food prices may be rising, the cost of some other goods are going down, which evens out the overall inflation picture. The Fed's inflation estimates do not take into account volatile energy or food prices. The crowd was not impressed:
"Today you can buy an iPad 2 that costs the same as an iPad 1 that is twice as powerful," he said referring to Apple Inc's (AAPL.O) latest handheld tablet computer hitting stories on Friday.
"You have to look at the prices of all things," he said
.
This prompted guffaws and widespread murmuring from the audience, with one audience member calling the comment "tone deaf."
"I can't eat an iPad," another quipped.] http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110311/us_yblog_thelookout/fed-official-heckled-i-cant-eat-an-ipad

Governor 48.9%; Cut School Budgets and Corporate Taxes
["The plan incorporates expenditure savings in most of the state's major policy areas, but school districts statewide would feel the largest burden because of local property tax reductions and the loss of federal stimulus education funds," Moody's said in a written comment.
Scott, a Republican and former healthcare executive elected with Tea Party support in November, has proposed large spending cuts as well as tax cuts. Florida, an epicenter of the U.S. housing crisis with an 11.9 percent jobless rate, faces a $3.6 billion revenue shortfall in its next fiscal year.
"As proposed, the budget will likely require personnel reductions and seriously impede the ability of school districts to meet state-mandated class size reduction," Moody's said, noting Florida already has one of the country's lowest corporate tax rates.
Scott, responding to Moody's analysis, told reporters in Tallahassee that his policies would benefit Florida.
"I'm very comfortable that the things we are doing are things that will make this state a long term success," Scott said. "If you look at my business history, I've tried to put the companies I've been involved with in better financial shape. I'm trying to do the same thing for the state."]

"[T]he highest executive in our state suffers from the delusion that God dictates his every move."
Written about Wisconsin Governator Scott Walker but fear it true of Governor 48.9% in Florida. Guess Governor Gollum could not find anything about trains in his bible, probably the original King Jjames because everyone knows later versions communist influenced by the Devil.
The following explains why RepubliKKKans scare me; they truly believe they follow God's commands but follow who they conceive of as that angry old white bearded dude in the sky, not Jesus who preached love even of the lowliest in society: the poor, the widows, the illegal aliens, those who hunger, and dare I say even union workers.

The dogmatic unwillingness of Wis. Gov. Scott Walker to negotiate or to compromise with Democrats or unions has surprised many people in the state. One explanation for his attitude may be found in his religious convictions.
In a talk to the Christian Businessmen’s Committee in Madison on November 13, 2009, Walker, who was raised by a Baptist preacher, spoke about his personal relationship with God, his “walk to Christ,” and his belief in the need to “trust and obey” the Lord.
He told the group that when he was thirteen, he committed himself to Jesus. “I said, ‘Lord, I’m ready . . . not just in front of my Church and the world but most importantly at the foot of your Throne, I’m ready to follow you each and every day. . . . I have just full out there said, ‘I’m going to trust in you Christ to tell me where to go. And to the best of my ability I’m going to obey where you lead me,’ and that has made all the difference in the world to me, for good times and bad.”
Walker said that God has told him what to do every step of the way, including about what jobs to take, whom to marry, and when to run for governor...
.Walker’s views disturb Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
“It is frightening that the highest executive in our state suffers from the delusion that God dictates his every move,” she says. “Consider the personal and historic devastation inflicted by fanatics who think they are acting in the name of their deity.”] emphasis added

National Pi Day
National PI Day, 14 March, as distinguished from every day as pie day.
Earthquakes, tsunamis, and RepubliKKKans, oh my, might as well celebrate PI.
Image above totally stolen from Dali Museum email to me, as well as following:
[Pi Day (3.14)
Monday, March 14, 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Featured Movies: Disney’s Donald in Mathmagic Land, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. & 4-5:30 p.m. (on loop) &
Darren Aronofsky’s Pi , 2 p.m.
Pi Day is marked by fun Pi and math-inspired activities, movies, treats in the Café and special admission promotions.
What is Pi? The relation of the circumference to the diameter of every circle is the same. This constant is known as pi from the Greek perimetros and is expressed as approximately 3.14 or as 22/7. Pi is essential to descriptions of motion and mechanics and it is useful to everyday life.
Why Dalí and Pi? Salvador Dalí was fascinated by math, seeing it as the intellectual dimension of virtual beauty. He used mathematical principles such as perspective, geometry, ratio and proportion to provide clarity to his work. He was delighted by the irrational numbers Pi and Phi, returning to them as sources of inspiration throughout his career.]
