Caleb Medley, Another Aurora Survivor Without Health Insurance and With New Baby

No one needs health insurance, unless some one works at Wal Mart to support his family and gets shot in the head by a miserable sack of shit who should have shot himself before shooting innocent people.

Now with a lost eye, brain damage, and in an induced coma.

He, his wife, and baby Hugo need help from strangers with big hearts and even $5, just a piece of paper with Lincoln's picture.

Alone we can do little.

[Caleb worked for Walmart, then Target, then Walmart again. It sounds like a lot of changes but each time he was able to make a little more money and make a little more time to pursue his love of comedy....

Then came a big week. The week that started Monday July 18th. Caleb was entered in the biggest comedy contest in Denver held at the Comedy Works. Katie and Caleb were going to welcome Baby Hugo into the world on Sunday July 22.

Caleb appeared at the Comedy Works on Wednesday night July 18th. He did well enough to advanced to the next round. He and Katie were excited to welcome Baby Hugo into the world, but decide to treat themselves to one last thing before they "officially" became parents. They decided to be among the first people in Denver to see the newest Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises".

They were having the normal opening night movie experience. They stood anxiously in line, spent too much on popcorn and soda, suffered through the movie trailers and watched the beginning of the movie. That is when evil struck....

Now Caleb is in the hospital. He has lost his right eye, has some brain damage and doctors have put him in a medically induced coma.Caleb, Katie and Baby Hugo need your help. Aurora Miracle Survivor Needs Help with Medical Bills

See, people who decry Obamacare--saying their freedom infringed upon by having to have health insurance--ignore the fact one instant in this world of mass shootings, car wrecks, even one missed step and broken leg can put anyone no matter how hale and hearty in the emergency room with ruinous medical bills.

Luckily, this lady had a birth defect which saved her brain from grievous injury and her possibly from death.

Nevertheless, 5 hours of brain surgery comes not cheap, and with her mother already with cancer, the family needs help.

[Petra Anderson, 22, was at the midnight premiere of 'The Dark Knight Rises' in Aurora, Colo., when she was shot four times by a gunman who had opened fire in the crowded theater, the Associated Press reports.

Three shotgun pellets hit Anderson's arm and another went through her nose -- riding up the back of her cranium and hitting the back of her skull.

"Her injuries were severe, and her condition was critical…The doctors prior to surgery were concerned because so much of the brain had been traversed by the bullet," Anderson's pastor, Brad Strait, wrote in his blog...

But incredibly, during the five-hour surgery, doctors soon found that Anderson's brain sustained very little damage and the bullet was removed cleanly.

According to Strait, Anderson was saved by a miracle birth "defect" that no one could have anticipated.

"The doctor explains that Petra’s brain has had from birth a small “defect” in it. It is a tiny channel of fluid running through her skull…Only a CAT scan would catch it, and Petra would have never noticed it.

But in Petra’s case, the shotgun buck shot…enters her brain from the exact point of this defect. Like a marble through a small tube, the defect channels the bullet from Petra’s nose through her brain. It turns slightly several times, and comes to rest at the rear of her brain. And in the process, the bullet misses all the vital areas of the brain."]
