Oops, he's burning.

For those of you who don't know, you might charitably call Ocoee, FL, a small town, which lies about 10 miles due W of Orlando, FL, which formerly you might call a mite bit country.

Decades of suburbanization, urban sprawl, and developers who paid folks tons of cash for orange groves decimated by few freezes have led to houses cheek by jowel on formerly picturesque property.

Now- some 90 years after the Ocoee race riots, a sanitized name for a massacre by white folks killing of black men and burning out black families, "bleaching" the city for nearly a century.

Like other white riots in Florida, black people trying to vote served as a proximate cause.
[OCOEE, Fla. — An Ocoee teenager is being treated for severe burns at Arnold Palmer Hospital after his younger brother accidentally set him on fire while playing with alcohol and matches, Orange County firefighters said....

“The big brother turned around and said, 'I’m burning,' and that’s when we knew that it was serious,” said Cruz. “Just raw skin, not what I expected to see when he turned around....”

“We did what we knew, which was use water, and put towels on him and just calm him down because he would have gone into shock,” Cruz said.

Police said the boys were home and the younger child, believed to be 9 or 10 years old, was being watched by his 14-year-old brother.

“The little one was playing with alcohol and matches, and it just made it combust and it hit the big brother because he was trying to blow it out,” Cruz said.
