Medicaid Blues: Vanilla Pudding Reflections

OK, stuck in nursing home for physical rehabilitation and of necessity must eat the food here.  Although generally edible, it does have some quirks: like the anonymous, ubiquitous yellow pudding like substance served as desert for every meal but breakfast.

Given the name "vanilla," it may not prove so since it tastes unlike the cheap vanilla ice "cream" served.  But do we really want to know the flavor proper name?  Even though it gets frankly nauseating to eat for dinner and supper for a whole week, we'll just leave the fact finding to others.

Then a funny thing happens.  One day a lunch tray comes without any desert and the plate o' crap looks lonely without it; the heart yearns wistfully for the "vanilla" pudding.  So one asks and the aid dutifully walks to the kitchen to find a desert for her charge and comes back with dry corn bread and news no deserts at all left in the kitchen.

But I find that impossible.  The kitchen has to have something for dessert for supper.  Just get me one of whatever.  The kitchen gods become displeased, sending the aid away roughly, no pudding for you!

But we've seen this before with the cook at first restaurant and first job ever worked, at a steak house in Satellite Beach where the cook manipulated check times on behalf of his favorite waitresses to receive favors from them.

Life has taught bullies abound no matter the walk of life or profession or location.  Some don't think themselves bullies but enforce petty rules with no reason.  Some take pleasure in power, like some nurses who push me around.  So for the first thing, you can't let yourself get mad because they want that.

Just come up with a reason to get what you want and go to the person who can do that, in this case my nurse who took a couple minutes to get me a damn pudding like I craved.

You can't let the bullies know they bother you.  Don't take it personally.

So know when Republican'ts and pundits opine the US must cut entitlements, realize they have no idea this actually means cutting food budgets and staffing levels at these facilities, since companies have to make a profit in our capitalist paradise.  They just want to screw iwth poor people because they can.

My Representative, Daniel Webster, gerrymandered to hell district of white Winter Garden even though he "represents" part of Orlando, wants to cut entitlements and take my pudding away.

Mr.. Webster, spend a week in a wheelchair in long term nursing care and then tell me how you'll vote.

You might learn to love "vanilla" ice cream, Dan.
