Capitalism Kills: Too Old to Pick Produce

Workers handpick tomatoes by the ton. They must harvest 2.5 tons a day, just to earn minimum wage.It's a backbreaking job that quickly takes a toll on a worker's body.Suddenly, a worker can't afford to buy the tomatoes he used to pick by the ton.
Photojournalist Susan Meiselas and audio journalist Cecilia Vaisman visited Immokalee, Fla., a produce center for some of the nation's biggest food distributors. They met workers who believe they still have productive years ahead of them but struggle to get enough to eat. They also found people committed to improving these workers' lives.]
